Kingston Downs to Host Georgia Cycling’s “2024 Peach State Championship”
Georgia’s youth mountain bike Championship returns to Rome for a third consecutive year
BLUE RIDGE, GA – January 25, 2024 – The Georgia Cycling Association announced today that Kingston Downs will once again host the Peach State Championship presented by Northside Hospital. On Sunday, October 27, hundreds of student-athletes from across the state will descend on Rome, GA to compete in a final race that will cap the 2024 Northside Hospital Race Series.
The Northside Hospital Race Series is a slate of five mountain bike races held at various locations across Georgia each autumn. Student-athletes, in grades 6 through 12, from over 80 different youth mountain bike teams are expected to compete in the 2024 Race Series. Teams are based in communities throughout Georgia and are led by a coalition of trained volunteer coaches.
In addition to the Championship Race, Kingston Downs will also be the location of the 3rd Annual MTB Fest on Saturday, October 26. MTB Fest is a celebration of youth mountain biking in the state of Georgia. It is an opportunity for Georgia Cycling teams to come together in a relaxed and non-competitive environment to celebrate achievements made during the 2024 season. It is also an opportunity for the public to learn more about the Georgia Cycling Association and learn about the healthy sport of mountain biking. MTB Fest is free and open to the public. Additional details, including the event schedule, will be released later in the year.
“Kingston Downs is the ideal location for our championship race, and we couldn’t be more excited to return for our third Championship Weekend. Not only do we get to offer our athletes a superior trail, but our families get to enjoy watching the competition in one of Georgia’s most scenic environments,” stated Kenny Griffin, Executive Director of Georgia Cycling.
After kicking off the 2021 regular season, Kingston Downs moved to the last race of the year during the 2022 season.
“We are excited to enter our fourth year of partnership with the Georgia Cycling Association. Their desire to motivate people to ‘get outside and ride’ aligns with our values of nature preservation and enjoyment of the outdoors. We thank Georgia Cycling for their stewardship and look forward to many more years together,” said Stan Bouckaert with Kingston Downs.
Student-athlete registration for the upcoming season will open on Monday, April 1, 2024.
